Why you really do need to carry two EpiPens everywhere...

It's easy to become complacent about carrying your EpiPens everywhere, especially if you've never had a serious reaction. We know, they are bulky and can be difficult to carry (not if you've got one of our children's EpiPen cases though!). But seriously, the truth is, none of us know when anaphylaxis could strike so if you/ your child have been prescribed them, please make sure you carry them with you. If you needed any further incentives, here's our top reasons why...

  1. They can misfire! If one pen is faulty, it's important to have a backup
  2. You might need a 2nd dose - if there is no improvement within 5 minutes, you can administer the second pen in the opposite leg
  3. You can't just pick one up whilst you're out - EpiPens are prescription only items, that can only be issued by pharmacists (with the appropriate prescription)
  4. Even a short walk home to pick up your EpiPen could make a reaction worse. Exercise is a co-factor that can exacerbate reactions, ideally someone experiencing anaphylaxis should lie down. They can sit up if they are struggling to breathe
  5. Time is of the essence - you might not have time to rush home to pick up your EpiPens. Anaphylaxis comes on rapidly and can escalate quickly
  6. Treatment is more effective the sooner it is given - if you suspect anaphylaxis, administer the EpiPen/s.
  7. Anaphylaxis is unpredictable and can happen anywhere - you could  be far from a hospital or ambulance and unable to get treatment anywhere else, but if you have EpiPens at hand they provide a safe and reliable treatment that can stop or reduce the severity of anaphylaxis and buy you time until you get to hospital

Our insulated cases for EpiPens make it easier than ever to transport your child's EpiPens, ensuring that you have access to their life-saving medication wherever you go.
